Dress Code
Meyer Elementary follows LCISD district dress code.
Students are expected to dress in clothing that is clean, modest, appropriate for school, and does not disrupt the learning environment.
- Shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, and T-shirts are permitted, provided they fit appropriately and do not expose the midriff, cleavage, or undergarments. Clothing may not display or promote alcohol, tobacco, drugs, weapons, violence, gang affiliation, profanity, or other inappropriate images or language.
- Pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, and dresses must be worn appropriately at the waist, fit properly, and be an appropriate length for school. Clothing that is excessively tight, oversized, see-through, excessively torn, or resembles sleepwear is not permitted. Leggings worn as pants must be paired with a shirt, skirt, dress, or shorts that provide appropriate coverage.
- Students must wear shoes at all times. For safety, closed-toe athletic shoes are recommended for physical education and recess. House shoes, shoes with wheels, and other footwear that may create a safety hazard are not permitted.
- Jewelry and accessories may be worn as long as they do not create a safety concern or disrupt the educational environment. Visible facial piercings (including nose rings), gang-related items, and accessories or clothing containing inappropriate words, images, or symbols are prohibited. Hats, caps, bandanas, scarves, and other head coverings may not be worn indoors except for religious, medical, or school-approved purposes.
The principal or designee may establish additional dress requirements for special events or school activities. Students whose attire does not comply with the dress code may be asked to change into appropriate clothing before returning to class.
