Meyer Highlights & Happenings

This week at Meyer, students and staff returned from Thanksgiving break rested, recharged, and ready to finish the semester strong.

Classrooms were buzzing with energy as students jumped back into learning routines and continuing to work toward their academic goals. We’re proud of the positive momentum across campus and are looking forward to a successful finish to the semester!

We’re also excited to share that Meyer was awarded over $19,000 in LEAF grants this year! Congratulations to our outstanding grant recipients: Mrs. Bradshaw (ECSE), Mrs. Alanis (Pre-K), Mrs. Originales (Kindergarten), Mrs. Torres (Art), Mrs. Endsley (Special Ed), Mrs. Gonzalez (Math), and Ms. Chandler (Emergent Bilingual). Their dedication and innovative ideas will bring wonderful opportunities and resources to our students.

Toys for Tots Donation Drive 🎁

We are excited to share that our school will be participating in the Toys for Tots donation drive this holiday season! Beginning this week, we will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to help brighten the holidays for children in need within our community.

A donation box has been placed in the front office for any families who would like to contribute. All donations are greatly appreciated and will make a meaningful difference for local children.

Title I Webinar Series for Parents

Lamar CISD is proud to offer FREE Title I Parent Workshops to support our families and students. These workshops cover a wide range of helpful topics, including:

  • Promoting health and wellness at home

These sessions are designed to give you practical tools and strategies to help your child succeed, both in and out of the classroom.

Has your child lost or damaged their student ID tag? You can now conveniently purchase a replacement through School Cash Online for $5.

Each replacement includes:
✔️ A new student ID card
✔️ A protective plastic sleeve
✔️ Your choice of lanyard or badge clip

Policy Corner

Important Reminders for a Smooth Start to the School Year

As we kick off the new school year, please take note of the following reminders to help keep our mornings and afternoons running safely and efficiently:

  • Breakfast: Breakfast closes at 7:40 a.m. This gives students a chance to get to class before the tardy bell rings.
  • Start Time: School begins promptly at 7:45 AM. Students must be in their classrooms by 7:45, not just arriving at the building.
  • Morning Drop-Off: Please do not park in the bus loading/unloading zone between 7:10 and 7:45 AM. Instead, park in a designated space or use the car rider drop-off line.
  • Car Rider Doors: The car rider doors will close at 7:45 AM. After that time, students will need to be walked in through the front office and will be marked tardy.
  • Early Student Check-Out and Transportation Changes: All early student check-outs and transportation changes must be made by 2:00 p.m.
  • Dismissal: Dismissal begins at 3:10 PM. All students must be picked up by 3:30 PM.
  • Lunch Visits: Families may begin having lunch with students starting the week of August 25, 2025.

No Stopping Zone at Front of School

For the safety of all students and staff, please do not park or stop at the curb/fire lane in front of the school. This area must remain clear at all times for emergency vehicles and safe student drop-off and pick-up.

If you need to visit the office, please park in the designated parking lot at the front of the school. Parking or stopping at the curb may result in your vehicle being towed.

Rainy Day Dismissal Procedures

When weather radar indicates rain at dismissal time, we will send out a Rainy Day Dismissal alert through ParentSquare. On these days, parents of walkers must join the car rider line to pick up their students for safety reasons.

If you're a parent of a walker and do not have a car rider sign, please stop by the front office to pick one up. Alternatively, if you’d prefer the sign sent home with your student, email Susan Evans at sbevans@lcisd.org to request one.
