🦅 The Eagle Wrap-Up 🦅

This week was full of great moments at Meyer! We celebrated Mrs. Teal during School Counselor’s Week. She does so much for our Eagles, our staff, and our community, and we are truly blessed to have her at Meyer. We crowned our 2026 Teach of the year, Mrs. Rebecca Bradshaw, and our 2026 Support Staff of the year, Mrs. Natasha Wells 🎉 Both of these ladies are wonderful and we are so proud to have them represent Meyer!

Testing continued in 4th and 5th grade, and our students showed incredible focus and effort as they gave their absolute best. We also kicked off our Kids Heart Challenge and are excited to see so many families participating. Thank you for your support! Finally, today marks the end of Progress Report 3. Be sure to check Skyward next Thursday to review your child’s progress report.

Spring Benchmark Testing

Our students at Meyer Elementary School will be taking the district benchmark test on the following dates:

  • February 10th 5th Grade Math Benchmark
  • February 11th 3rd & 4th Grade Math Benchmark

The purpose of benchmark testing is to evaluate students' academic progress and identify areas that need improvement. It is important that students be in attendance and on time these days. Please arrange doctor’s appointments on a non-testing date.

To minimize disruptions and maintain the testing environment, the campus will be closed to all visitors including lunch guests on the dates above.

In order to help your child perform at his or her best, please ensure the following items occur so your student will be prepared both mentally and physically for testing:

  • Gets a good night’s sleep.
  • Eats a nutritious breakfast.
  • Arrives at school by 7:40 AM.
  • Brings glasses if he/she requires them.
  • Takes any required medication (if applicable).
  • Is relaxed and free from stress as much as possible.
  • Wish your child a pleasant day and tell him/her that you know he/she will be successful by simply doing his/her best.

If you have any questions, please contact the front office at 832-223-2000.

Important Reminders for a Smooth Start to the School Year

As we kick off the new school year, please take note of the following reminders to help keep our mornings and afternoons running safely and efficiently:

  • Breakfast: Breakfast closes at 7:40 a.m. This gives students a chance to get to class before the tardy bell rings.
  • Start Time: School begins promptly at 7:45 AM. Students must be in their classrooms by 7:45, not just arriving at the building.
  • Morning Drop-Off: Please do not park in the bus loading/unloading zone between 7:10 and 7:45 AM. Instead, park in a designated space or use the car rider drop-off line.
  • Car Rider Doors: The car rider doors will close at 7:45 AM. After that time, students will need to be walked in through the front office and will be marked tardy.
  • Early Student Check-Out and Transportation Changes: All early student check-outs and transportation changes must be made by 2:00 p.m.
  • Dismissal: Dismissal begins at 3:10 PM. All students must be picked up by 3:30 PM.
  • Lunch Visits: Families may begin having lunch with students starting the week of August 25, 2025.

Thank you for your help in making sure our students have a safe and successful start each day!

No Stopping Zone at Front of School

For the safety of all students and staff, please do not park or stop at the curb/fire lane in front of the school. This area must remain clear at all times for emergency vehicles and safe student drop-off and pick-up.

If you need to visit the office, please park in the designated parking lot at the front of the school. Parking or stopping at the curb may result in your vehicle being towed.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!

Rainy Day Dismissal Procedures

When weather radar indicates rain at dismissal time, we will send out a Rainy Day Dismissal alert through ParentSquare. On these days, parents of walkers must join the car rider line to pick up their students for safety reasons.

If you're a parent of a walker and do not have a car rider sign, please stop by the front office to pick one up. Alternatively, if you’d prefer the sign sent home with your student, email Susan Evans at sbevans@lcisd.org to request one.
